    - Stage Select Description

Mighty No. 5: Battalion, is an artillery robot, and the fifth member of the Mighty Numbers line created by Dr. White.

    Appearance[]

Battalion's body is based around weapons, particularly machine guns. His main body is green, with red arms that have grey-fingered hands and green legs with red covers. He has a yellow pile driver-like weapon on his right arm and a long, yellow-green gatling gun on his left arm. He has the number "05" written on his right leg in the same font as Aviator's "06". He is 305cm/10ft tall, and weighs 600kg/1323lbs.

    Story[]

Battalion was the fifth member of the Mighty Numbers to be created by Dr. White, and, amongst his siblings, participated in many battles which occured in the Battle Colosseum.

When a mysterious virus suddenly caused almost every robot to go berserk, Battalion was among the many robots who were affected. From there, He took over an abandoned Military Base and attempted to raise a robot army to invade the city. Beck was sent over by Dr. White to quell this planned invasion. When Beck got to him, the two fought, and eventually, Battalion was defeated and brought back to his senses.

If Battalion was defeated, he will assist Beck in the Mine by destroying the large drills and clearing a path for him.

After all of the infected Mighty Numbers had been cured of the virus, Battalion joined them, Beck, and Dr. White in an attack on the Cherry Dynamics Robot Factory to shut down the production of various malfunctioning robots.

After the final battle between Beck and Trinity at the Battle Colosseum, Battalion and the other Mighty Numbers were sent by Dr. White to rescue Beck and Trinity from the collapsing area.

    Personality[]

Battalion has a personality reminiscent of a military Commander. He is loud-spoken and enthusiatic in what he does.

While under the virus's influence, Battalion behaved like that of a military drill Sergeant, insulting Beck throughout the base and questioning why he is trying to stop him from declaring war on the city.

    Abilities[]

Battalion has a large arsenal of heavy weapons. He can use the gatling gun attached to his left arm or fire missiles from his legs. He can also use the spikes attached to his right arm to hang from the ceiling.

Battalion's most devastating ability is the missile he fires from the revolver on top of his head. The projectile will hit its target with a great amount of force, and can be attached to ground-level surfaces. Battalion is also capable of self-detonating the missile, but doing this causes a large explosion. His main weapon is the Remote Cannons, which fire missiles that can be detonated..

    Development[]

Battalion's development was first started when the team wanted to make a boss with a heavy military weapon theme. Inafune decided to base him on the Gatling gun, as it is a personal favorite of his and "packs a lot of aesthetic impact" [1] (In fact the kanji characters GA-TO-RI-N-GU are across the top of the design image.) Battalion's design was originally quite humanoid and complex, until Inafune felt that he needed to be simplified. He urged the team to go from a human design to a robot that looks like a Gatling gun with limbs. At that point, the team decided to establish the concepts of the other 8 bosses first. Going from his rough silhouette, they brainstormed more and decided to create the design he currently holds.

    Other Appearances[]

In Mighty Gunvolt Burst, Battalion reappears as a boss, and now has the ability to separate his body parts, allowing him to attack from different directions (similar to Asroc's special attack from Azure Striker Gunvolt 2). He can also summon enemies into the battle.

    Trivia[]

    • Similar to the other five Robots you encounter in the game, Battalion has similarities to Bomb Man, Crash Man, Napalm Man, Grenade Man, and Commando Man from the original Mega Man series, such as his ability to use demolition weaponry.
    • Strangely, the Fire Explosion (Pyrogen's weapon) is not Battalion's weakness, despite fire forming a bad combination with bombs. However, the Cryosphere's Freezing Liquid can put out fires, and dousing/dipping a bomb in water can prevent it from doing as much damage.
    • Battalion was the first Mighty Number boss to have his name revealed.
    • If his Xels are absorbed while he's in mid-air, Battalion will perform a double jump.
    • Battalion is the only boss to have bifurcating arms.
